STUDENT CENTER UPDATE

Updated: Sep 24, 2021

Responding to the education needs of the community!

School Year 2021-2022 is finally here and the number of expected enrollees was exceeded. More students have enrolled than expected this year. Students rely more on online instructions than ever!

Students use computers, laptops, cellphones, and tablets to get online and use Google and YouTube to find instructions on any subjects and topics they need to learn.

Student Center Services

We thank God that we actually have a decent internet connection at 35 Mbps here at Pinagbobong. But this can be eaten up by all the devices that the students use. At any given time, we can have up to 20 devices connected. And when someone watch instructional videos, the connection lags.

More and more students are coming to the center not only for the internet, laptop and printers use. They also come to the Dream Center for school supplies and sometimes just to take a break from school work. They can use the swings or shoot some hoops just to get their mind off school works for a few minutes. The Student Center is working on overdrive the first week of school as parents and children adjust to the demands of online and modular learning. Students who are enrolled on modular learning receive their modules every week and have to complete and turn in all their modules on Fridays or Saturdays. We have students spend their whole day at the Student Center and our Youth Group is growing because of it. Since our youth meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for devotions, fellowships, and praise and worship practice these students have join them and are asking questions on how our youth are so closed to each other. They want to join the group and are asking how to join! Hallelujah!!!

One of our scholars who is taking Education and trying to become a teacher is volunteering to teach Reading and Writing.

Please, please keep our youth in your prayers as they too have classes and modules to attend to but our youth ministry is growing and they are needed to attend to the new students as well. But they love serving the new students and are excited to share to Gospel with them. We are afraid that we cannot keep up with the numbers as we are still required to do social distancing. Some of our youth already are sacrificing and are coming in early morning like 3 in the morning just to do their school works when it is still quiet and they can concentrate on their education.

Our leaders donating much needed school supplies to Pinagbobong Elementary School (PES) And in a very small way, the Dream Center also donated school supplies to our adopted elementary school. PES teachers do visits their students, especially those who are struggling in school because their parents are illiterate and could not help them with their school works. These school supplies will be used to help teachers help their struggling students.

We also have provided Reading and Writing curriculums to support PES' efforts to combat illiteracy. Along with our two volunteers, PES teachers also visits students who are behind in Reading and Writing.

We are just blessed to be partnered with the school to address the needs of the community! We continue to develop relationships and partnership with various sectors of the community to help to the development and improvement of our community! We want to thank you for supporting GEM and the Dream Center! Without your support, we could not do what we do. Thank you for partnering with us and supporting us. If you have not supported any of our projects and programs, this may be the best time to help. The number of students we are ministering is increasing. More school supply, more snacks and we definitely can use larger bandwidth for our internet. Email us or message us on FB if you want to sponsor a month or a whole year of internet connection ($40/month or $480/year). Larger bandwidth will cost $60/month or $720/year. You can support us ONLINE and your donation is tax deductible. For Dream Center donate toward account # 786. For our personal support use account # 438.
